The role:

An opportunity has arisen for a lead Controller for Ukraine. This person will be a highly visible leader in the Ukraine region and a valued business partner with the local and international commercial and operational management:

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Controlling activities for all of our operations in Ukraine which includes significant origination operations, inland and export elevators and a crushing facility.
  • Effectively manage, motivate, and develop a team in Controlling and Accounting which includes goal setting and monitoring, performance feedback, development of existing & new talent and key roles adequate succession plans.
  • Provide advice and counsel to Senior Management by interpreting operating results as they affect the financial aspects of the businesses.
  • Design new procedures and practices that lead to continuous process improvement and the achievement of department and business goals
  • Directly accountable for compliance with all local Ukrainian GAAP, US-GAAP and corporate policies while promoting a strong internal control environment; Ensure compliance with all accounting policies and financial reporting requirements
  • Maintain a strong internal and operational control environment in compliance with all Key Financial controls (KFC's)
  • Work with internal and external auditors to coordinate audit requests and responses
  • Partner with the Business and all other functional leaders to support our growth strategy
  • Coordinate the monthly preparation of timely and high quality financial information
  • Communicate with others in a professional and constructive manner while simultaneously building an identity of trust and value

The successful candidate will possess the following:

  • Bachelor degree or higher in business administration with emphasis on Controlling and/or Accounting
  • ACCA (at least 2/3) and/or CIMA
  • 10 or more years of relevant accounting work experience with 5 or more years of management experience
  • Strong analytical abilities, initiative and problem solving skills
  • Effective oral and written communication skills as well as ability to interface with various levels of office and operational contacts
  • Excellent technical accounting skills of Local- and US-GAAP
  • Fluent in Ukrainian and English
  • Positive, ‘can do' hands on attitude
  • Ability to meet demanding deadlines without compromising quality and completeness.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs and complex organization.
  • Ability to develop good working relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Strong understanding of fair value inputs (commodities, market regions, contract components, etc.)
  • Proven leadership skills to achieve goals through teamwork and continuous improvements
  • Excellent user knowledge in MS-Office
